Professor Kshanika Hirimburegama

Dear Colleagues,

I am extremely pleased and honored to announce in my capacity as the Chair of the Conference and the Vice- Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka that the 44th APACPH Conference will be hosted by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Colombo from 14th to 17th October, 2012 in the City of Colombo, the capital of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

The Faculty of Medicine is the successor of the Ceylon Medical College established in 1870 as a centre of professional Medical Education and the second oldest Medical School in South Asia. Working in collaboration with APACPH has expanded the scope of the Faculty of Medicine and provided opportunities to develop and contribute to the field of Public Health at national, regional and international levels.

APACPH has been in the forefront in addressing global health concerns and has worked towards the advancement of Public Health systems in the region. This conference is a fitting forum to explore future directions and to pave the way towards meeting the challenges in Public Health in the future.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 44th APACPH Conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka and in my capacity as the Conference Chair and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, I am honoured and privileged to cordially invite you to participate at this stimulating, enlightening and enjoyable Conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
